LED Wall

The Cobalt team provides an end-to-end service that takes you from design right through to hand-over of your remote control. We build outdoor, indoor, straight, concave, convex, ceiling, wall and floor LED walls, and can also replace old LED walls with all new designs that fit existing structures and outfitting

With 20 years’ experience of providing consultancy services in the AV sector, we know how to bring your visions to life. Whether you are an architect, cost consultant, designer or contractor, we can work closely with you to interpret and execute your brief, working within RIBA guidelines and continually monitoring progress to provide ongoing digital communication flows

Engineering Design

If all you need is a design to work from, Cobalt Interactive can provide complete drawing packages that allow you focus your resources elsewhere. We can work alongside you and your equipment manufacturers to provide drawing sets for any application, including 3D visualisation, project planning, installation and manufacture.

Manufacture

Our aim is always to provide high quality, practical products that deliver the results you need. We work closely with UK manufacturers to create a broad range of bespoke mechanical systems for the AV industry; from solutions as simple as a bracket for a loudspeaker, through to complex frames for articulated LED walls

Virgin Cruises class – all LED walls mechanical design and supply, installation & commissioning

Cobalt teams provided the engineering service to develop, design and deliver the LED wall space on a new concept vessel for Virgin. Details include 7 moving, rotating and lifting LED panels in the Theatre, a portable ‘V’ shaped double-sided score LED which packs away into a giant road case! There were more movable panels in the nightclub as well as a slimline casino LED wall

NCL Breakaway Plus class – all LED walls mechanical design and supply, installation & commissioning

Cobalt worked with its partners to realise the LED wall requirement for these 4000 passenger ships. We provided all mechanical and electrical design, wind loadings and interface requirements. Out local team supervised all frame manufacture and pre-testing in the UK before shipment. Our installation teams visited the vessel several times in keeping with the installation timetable to complete the installation successfully Partner – Wärtsilä FUNA

Communications consultancy – British Land new HQ, Marble Arch, London

The design called for a hole cut in the existing building slab to completely change the old HQ layout flow and communications. Cobalt provided the design and on-going special/technical consultancy throughout the project.

20 different meeting rooms, room booking system, video conferencing, back office integration and included some eye catching interactive and display pieces in the foyer

Working with existing spaces, Cobalt team engineered new LED products into the Atrium, Theatre and pool areas of the vessel. The frame designs were tailored to fit the current ship design and Cobalt re-worked the existing power and data allowance to work with the new products

Anna Freud Centre – New campus AV and communications consultancy and package management

Cobalt team worked closely with the design team led by Penyore and Prasad as well as the clinical and outreach teams of the AFC through the full RIBA design process. Particular attention was paid to the use of AV technology within the new campus given the sensitive nature of the work. An intuitive system with coherent visual language was produced

As part of the VIRGIN new build development Cobalt worked with its partners to deliver drawing packages for various different venues. The information ranged for m outline mechanical to detailed head and power requirements

COSTA Smeralda – outline, special and mechanical design for AV interfaces shipwide

A quick turn round was requested for a set of venues on a new build vessel which required full mechanical packages developed and delivered. Cobalt team worked with designers in Finland and Germany to deliver full drawing packages on time

HAPAG Hanseatic Class – all LED Walls mechanical design and supply, installation & commissioning

The brief required for 5 very high definition walls including for a 12,000-pixel panorama. There was an LED wall with doors punched through it as well as a 15m x 4m ceiling mounted LED screen.

The space was extremely challenging as were the installation conditions, but Cobalt provided excellent service to complete on time

AV Consultancy – 270 degree presentation, Saudi Pavilion, Expo 2017 Kazakhstan

The brief was to provide an ‘in-the-round’ projection presentation onto faceted screen surfaces. The screen measured 18m x 6m. Cobalt provided a 3D projection design for 12 projectors and a 7:1 surround sound system with automatic control.

The system was mocked up for software development before and core system testing before being shipped to Kazakhstan for installation

The team designed and had a prototype manufactured which was tested extensively in house before the final design was completed for manufacture. All parts were sent as kit with comprehensive installation instructions

Over the 6-ship delivery, Cobalt has worked with its partners to provide outline technical designs, design integration at the various stages of the project. Within this have been deliveries of full mechanical interfacing for all AV products

Communications consultancy – Broadgate Estates new HQ, Paddington Basin, London

A newbuild shell, Cobalt partnered the designers and client technology leads to deliver a simple and spare design in keeping with the décor. Functionality was still high using the google platform with 10 meeting rooms, communal entrance presentation system, elegant foyer and boardroom which could double as a fully functioning cinema

SAGA Spirit – All mechanical interfacing brackets

We were approached to provide the interfacing designs for all AV equipment on a new SAGA vessel. This included, projectors, sub loudspeakers, equipment racks, video cameras and lighting systems. Partner – Wärtsilä FUNA

Audio Visual hardware design consultancy and project management for Attenborough Interactive – Studio DC2 Darwin Wing, Natural History Museum

Cobalt was tasked with bringing together all stakeholders within the Museum in conjunction with the BBC special engineering dept to realise the Attenborough Augmented Reality Theatre. Consisting of 60 individual screens for each visitor, multi camera and multiple projection surfaces with manual and automated control. Over the 3 years, there were many hurdles to jump, but the core vision stayed throughout, delivering a world class educational facility

Cobalt has developed all the LED wall engineering as well as the precision mounting required for the loudspeaker system line arrays. Many different iterations are needed to work with all stakeholders to achieve the optimum configurations.

LED wall replacement projects for various clients

These projects tend to involve a site survey and a design that allows for the dismantling of the existing LED wall, the building of the new framework and wall element. The installation is typically 1-2 weeks and is usually carried out in difficult circumstances. We are please to have delivered over a dozen of these projects around the world.
